With today’s economy and the large number of young college graduates, the job market is a highly competitive monster to be reckoned with. Many older, more experienced adults use a return to school to add extra armor to their resume to try and get ahead. But the process of that return can be a long, arduous struggle.
Most workers over 35 have disadvantages that they carry with them through their recurring years of training. They have families to care for, are financially unstable due to unemployment.
Or are struggling with their unsatisfying job that they have to cling to for life until they are able to earn the certification that will enable them to get anywhere rise to greater. Fighting all these added problems can be tiring, but if you want something better for yourself, you have to make sacrifices.
Now many older adults seem to be returning to college and choosing to make those sacrifices. Some find ways to fit school into their already busy lifestyles, getting up before dawn to study, or attending weekends or online classes.
Some other adults returning to college undertake full-time workloads during the day and then attend classes for some nighttime college schools.

The number of first-year students over the age of 35 has increased, particularly in the last 10 years. Adults returning to college now make up almost 20% of enrollment, which is double what it used to be when they were young 18-year-olds. Today, two out of five college students are over the age of 25.
Online colleges have become the best ally for older adults looking to advance in the competitive workforce. About 75% of colleges offer online courses in the US alone.
63,000 students are already taking part in the University of Phoenix Online, and the trend is rising. Adults returning to college to earn a bachelor’s degree or some type of certificate tend to be attracted to these types of methods because they allow them to attend classes at home while they are on their Watching children, or splitting their time for school in a more convenient way.
The number of adults returning to college is increasing, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. The income gap between university graduates and non-graduates will soon be even greater and education more important than ever.
